DIY: Chevron Painting

So I've cured the bald spot above our bed. finally!

And if I do say so myself, I'm thrilled with how my little painting project worked out!

{before}
I marked out equal spacings with marker on (3) 15" x 30" canvas

{after}
Dark red fading to yellow

I used Anitas acrylic colors:
 11044 Coffee/Cafe; 11050 Christmas Red;
11139 Tangerine; and 11301 White

{ta-da!}

{it must be love}

We are celebrating Christmas with Kacey's Dad's side of the family this afternoon!
It's going to be a Mexican fiesta!
{I'll share my tasty Barracho Bean recipe soon}

Feliz Navidad!

All Wrapped Up

Like I said before, I love wrapping presents.
I think it's important to {pun intended} have a package deal: great gifts need beautiful wrapping.
No matter how big or small the gift, the extra effort will show...and will definitely be appreciated.

I always go for a theme...based on a ribbon, paper, or color.

{gifts for the families}

Christmas on Steroids

 Happy Friday!

I just had to share this. These pictures do NOT do this justice.
{if this doesn't put you in the holiday spirit, i don't know what will!}

This "house" is off Camp Bowie Blvd, near River Crest Country Club in FTW.
Every year they go all out...and it never gets old.

Counting down the days,

Getting Crafty

Morning lovelies.
So I've just about knocked off my Christmas List for family.
{I happen to love giving gifts. I love wrapping them even more...
I'll post pics later of my themed packaging!}

I decided to DIY one gift for a girlfriend of mine and I'm happy with how it turned out.
It's super affordable {I spent approx. $20} and I guarantee it will be appreciated!
Here's the play by play:

Framed Earring Holder

Supplies Needed:
  • Picture Frame (the one I used is 11" x 14")
  • White Needlepoint backing (they come in sheet rolls, found mine @ Michael's)
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun + glue

1. Measure needlepoint backing to fit within innermost edge on back of frame.

  2. Cut backing to fit within and hot glue on all edges to frame.
{Once the backing is secure, I go back on top and seal all edges with glue just to be sure}

3. Final Product! Hopefully she will like it!

{This is one I made for me @ home!}

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Website Highlight: Kendra Scott

Thanks to my good friend, Jessica, I've discovered a new obsession:
Kendra Scott

She's a doll. Read her story here.
{and she's super nice. I met her @ her grand opening in Austin!}

Let me just say, the website does NOT do her collection justice. Literally everything is stunning in person. Her new boutique in Austin is gorgoeous as well. It's clean, neutral interior makes the jewelry pop and it's outfitted with a "color bar" where you can pick a blank jewelry setting and then apply different gem stones- making it your very own design. {you can also design online @ her website here.}

Here's one I designed:

These are my some of my favs:

Carmella Stud Earrings in Turquoise $70; Ava Statement Necklace in Cayenne $170

Novia Beaded Stud Earrings in Champagne $65; Sona Chandelier Earrings in Berry $115

Otylia Cocktail Ring $75; Paley Cuff Bracelet in Basil $188
(images from her website)

 Kacey, I hope you're reading this...a not so subtle hint...

Keeping my fingers crossed,

VS Fashion Show

So last night I watched the VS Fashion Show

Time to revise my Christmas List:
  1.  Kate Spade Black Bag Treadmill
  2.  Nordstrom Leopard Flats Elliptical
  3. Anthropologie Skirt Slim Fast Shakes for Life
ok, you get the idea. (just minorly kidding BTW)

I couldn't help but wish that in my next life I'll come back as a costume/set designer/stylist for the show...
Better yet, a model...{a girl can dream!}

Here are some of my favorite photos:

Gorgeous production.

Daydreaming away,

Happy Thanksgiving!
(thank goodness for those pilgrims, right?!)

I'm mentally preparing myself for the complete domination I will have over the kitchen...and the buffet!
I hope you all have a relaxing weekend,
filled with full bellies, friends and family, and thoughts of what you are personally thankful for.

Here are a few things I'm thankful for at the moment:

1. The fact that no matter what my day has been like, I can go home to the unconditional love of this man and dog.

2. Our trip to Fredricksburg, Texas this summer. Including all of the following: summer air, boutique shops, fields of lavender, the smell of wine, and the windows down with the radio up.

3. This cookbook has saved my life. It's up there on the all time favorites list...

4. America, the place that gives us the freedom to enjoy the simple things in life that we sometimes take for granted like: Fort Worth, Texas, golf on a Sunday afternoon, and shops like these.

6. Girl's Honeymoon to Wildcatter Ranch with some of the best people I know.

Wishing you all the best!

xoxo,
-LC
