Designer Style: Trina Turk

Today I want to focus on the gorgeous signature prints of Trina Turk. This fashion designer added a residential line to her resume in May 2008 and I can't wait to see what's next! Her laid back modern style comes from drawing inspiration from the "cocktail party and poolside lifestyle of the desert" - aka California Chic.

Here are some pieces from her current residential accent pillow collection.
Go grab a Pina Colada, relax, and enjoy!

You can also purchase her fabulous prints through

Bedazzle Me

It's time to celebrate the party dress ladies!

Speaking of, I could use a handful (or two) for some upcoming events on my calendar. I'm always loving French Connection's super femine styles with a little edge...but their dresses lately are pure perfection if you're looking for a little glam.

I believe that a girl shouldn't have to have an excuse to get dolled up...why not, go all out on a Wednesday!

Here are my favorites:

(Perfect for the Fall, pair with tights and black booties)

(Time to shake what your mama gave ya)

(My all time favorite and where I'll be investing my money this month)

(Could the name be any cuter?!)

See y'all out on the dance floor!

Dream Closet #1

I'm no stylist...in fact I'm far from it, but I sincerely appreciate the art of fashion. I'll just live vicariously through Rachel Zoe (man she's great).

In a completely experimental attempt to exercise my styling skills, I decided to utilize my lazy Sunday afternoon by putting together my dream "go-to" professional cocktail outfit. (you know, for after-hour events and such).
In a perfect world
it would be/have the following:
A. Black
(sleek, chic, sexy and slimming)
B. Incredibly comfortable
(so I can focus on the people, not my hem line)
C. Super High Heels
(what could be more flattering on a woman?)
D. All about the Accessories
(it's all in the details)

So therefore, I've compiled my Option #1 outfit.
(I'll probably have to sell my first born child...)

:::Drum roll please:::

Banana Republic
(Timeless and Refined)

Oscar de la Renta
(Playful yet Mature)

Christian Louboutin
(The ultimate black pump)

Baccarat
(Just a hint of color)

and for the grand finale...
Alexander McQueen
(there are no words)

*Better get to work*

Stay tuned for more!

Geometry Reintrepreted

Yesterday I visited an art gallery in Dallas and my eye was immediately drawn to the works of this one particular artist, Steven Alexander. My mission was clear- I need to acquire one of his pieces, stat.

After researching his work portfolio on his studio website (SA STUDIO), I began picturing all of the bald wall space in our house being completely drenched in his colorful works. (*However, my husband, Kacey,  wouldn't go for it...deer mounts trump contemporary art in his book!)....Regardless, I have a running list of my favorites.

Steven's use of saturated color in simple geometric shapes summarizes his particular style; understated modernism. He frequently plays with the size of his canvases and scale of the colors, which transforms how one experiences the overall painting.

Here's what's on my list:

Vibrolux II, 2009, 32 x 288 inches, acrylic on 7 canvases
Perfect for a long hallway or office corridor

Shift 4, 2008, 12 x 144 inches, acrylic on 12 canvases (private collection)
What if you mount it vertically instead of horizontally?

True Love Never Die, 2009, 72 x 54 inches, acrylic on canvas (private collection)
Perfect for MY private collection!

What It Is, 2010, 48 x 36 inches, acrylic on linen

Domino, 2009, 26 x 20 inches, acrylic on linen

Calypso 14, 2009, 12 x 12 inches, acrylic on canvas

All images from Steven Alexander Website
Cheers to Mr. Alexander!

Wanted: A LIFE

Hi, My name is Lauren. I originally started this blog...oh, circa a million years ago. Have you seen "my life"? Honestly, things have been a little dis-com-bob-ulated (sp?!) lately. This blog was basically a little experiment of mine and I'm currently rekindling my relationship. Blog, I'm sorry. Please forgive me.

Now that that's taken care of, back to business. A new business that is, for me at least. I've recently taken on a new career path. One that has had me mentally occupied for the past couple months. Long story short, I'm excited and ready to conquer the world!

More details to come, but until then please enjoy this wonderful slice of visual candy.

I'm thinking this would be a good working art addition to my future design studio...yes please!

I won't make you count them...There are 500 colored pencils here.
Yum.

Love.
(images courtesy of google images)
You can purchase these pencils and the clear shelving from: FELISSIMO

Done and Done.

P.S. They have a monthly payment plan where you can get 25 pencils per month.
Talk about a little surprising gift on your doorstep every month! (and relief for your wallet, wink!)

Hooray Friday!
